January 17, 2020
On Monday, January 6th, 2020 the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) re-introduced the compulsory US$90.00 (Ninety United States Dollars) bio-metric registration fee for foreigners visiting the country.
- The US$90.00 (Ninety United States Dollars) is exclusive of visa fees already paid or payable by the travelers;
- There is also a US$20.00 (Twenty United States Dollars) service charge payable to the government’s concessionaire at the airport; and
- The bio-metric policy was initially introduced in 2018, cancelled at some point and has now been re-introduced.
Foreigners travelling to Nigeria should prepare themselves for these charges. The foreigners should also brace themselves as the portal of the concessionaire crashed on Tuesday, 14th of January, 2020, leaving travelers to spend as long as 4-5 hours at the airport.
